Puerto Rico

Going to Puerto Rico was probably one of the best vacations I have ever taken. I was a little scared to go at first since Puerto Rico was hit with a hurricane not more than a year ago.

When I got there however, I was shocked on how good the island is doing (regardless on what everyone says) and how well the people are handling the situation. I know, that the areas that were affected the most were the areas that (us annoying tourists) don't really see but it was still shocking to see how happy and positive everyone on the island is after this horrible situation.

When I first arrived I stayed at this guest house called "The Dreamcatcher" I CANNOT explain how perfect this place was. Seriously, a Pinterest board in person. I recommend everyone to stay there for at least two nights. It is so close to Old San Juan and a block away from the beach.

Please get a room with an outdoor shower.  Their breakfast is amazing, the people that work there are extremely nice and helpful and of course, the rooms are spotless clean. What else can you ask for? Oh yeah, their prices are really good too. Just please stay there haha.

I then stayed in Dorado beach and spent the rest of the days being  a beach bum.

I don't have any complaints however........... the food on the island is extremely heavy and fattening. I learned that they don't produce much there and things are a bit pricey (not really compared to NY ) because everything has to come to the US before it goes to PR. I am Colombian, so my expectations on food are a bit high. I did enjoy eating Mallorca bread and trying Mofongo (once) and it was good.

I hate doing touristy things, I didn't go to the other islands because the beach was already so nice, oh and I hate crowds. But I heard that Culebra is fun.. or that other waterfall that I don't even know the name of LOL.  Old San Juan however, is very very pretty. Definitely very colorful and full of culture. Puerto Rico, i love you and I will be back.
